Cerrone and Christine and the Queens are ‘Catching feelings’

Disco daddy Cerrone and French indie pop star Christine and the Queens teamed up to release a four-track EP, Catching feelings.

The devil works hard, but a French electronic duo works harder. From Daft Punk to Air to Justice, little can go wrong when French artists join forces. This has been proven to be true once again, this time by the likes of Cerrone and Christine and the Queens with their latest EP, Catching feelings, released via Because Music.

The four-track EP follows an acclaimed performance from Chris and Cerrone at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The duo performed the title track from the release, as well as Cerrone’s disco classic “Supernature,” to globally acclaimed reviews following the show. Continuing this momentum, the pair has released “Catching feelings,” an explosive dance ballad and a stunning example of the powerhouse artistry shared by both as individuals and as partners.

The project is platform-booted, spandex-wearing, gold-chain-donning disco music. With one-half of the duo being Cerrone, the godfather of the genre, it would be a bit surprising if it wasn’t. The title track is a much-needed cry for the return of the lover girl or boy. It’s an infectious, shoulder-swaying synth anthem, reminding us of the beauty behind the lost art of developing a romantically emotional connection with another person.

“Last One“ is, without question, the standout track. There’s something magically addictive about Cerrone’s signature sound moaning underneath Chris’s inherently voluminous yet slightly melancholic vocal. It’s a bit spooky, a bit “80s film montage-y,” and a lot of disco.

Disco has always had a bit of a seedy undertone (lovingly). It’s a genre that’s sadly riddled with a less-than-appealing history. The part of disco that gets lost in its own story is the romance within the genre. Disco is a love affair between the clubber and the dancefloor. Cerrone and Chris are the perfect pair to pay homage to this sonic love story, and they did it with nothing more than synthesizers and lust for performance, in true French duo fashion.

Catching feelings is available now for listening on your preferred streaming platform. Christine and the Queens and Cerrone have yet to announce any shows following the release, so make sure to follow them on socials for updates.
